Cabaret returns with “Makin’ Whoopie”
BENNINGTON- Amy Hayes and Matt Edwards are back for another great cabaret, “Makin’ Whoopie,” on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 pm
Hayes has acted with Oldcastle Theatre in “Broadway Bound, and “The Fourth Wall”. Recently she produced, directed and acted in “Twelfth Night” in New York.
This summer Hayes will repeat her off-Broadway role in “America is Hard to See” in Scotland. She has recorded two CDs, has sung numerous times on television as well as with Oldcastle’s annual Holiday Radio Variety Show, and appeared in the films “The Celebrant” with Rae Dawn Chong and “Reparation” with Jon Huertas.
The daughter of a singer-composer mother and a singer- producer father, Hayes has taught acting and theatre at DePauw University and was founding director of the Fall Festival of Shakespeare at DePauw. Her book “A Collection of Wednesdays” was published by Harper Collins.
Edwards is a versatile singer and pianist. He played keyboards for the Oldcastle production of “Big River,” has entertained with his group Matt Edwards and Buck Two-Fifty, played and sung at Oldcastle’s Holiday Radio Variety Show, is musical director of the Second Congregational Church, and teaches at the MAU Middle School. In addition he has taught at Bennington College and serves as the Bennington County Choral Society official pianist.
