Wildcats survive double overtime, shootout to take seventh straight title

ARLINGTON- Two of the top small-school boys’ soccer programs in Vermont battled for the John Werner Soccer Tournament title, and when the dust settled the Twin Valley Wildcats came out ahead of the host Arlington Eagles on Thursday, September 26. After the teams played to a 2-2 tie through two overtimes, it took a round of penalty kicks for the Wildcats to come out on top, 5-4.
“It was a classic battle,” said Twin Valley coach Buddy Hayford. “The boys played hard on both sides.”
