ARLINGTON - “Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you.”
That was Twin Valley boys’ varsity soccer coach Buddy Hayford’s assessment of Friday’s John Werner Tournament championship game, as the Wildcats were pummeled by the Stratton Mountain School Bears, 7-0. The loss was one of the worst in team history, according to Hayford, and snapped the Wildcats’ run of seven consecutive titles at the annual tournament hosted by Arlington High School. Also, Twin Valley had beaten SMS 2-1 in overtime seven days earlier.
