Readsboro- The 11th annual Hoot, Toot and Whistle 5K Snowshoe Race and Hike will be held Saturday, February 22, on the Catamount Trail.
Registration begins at 9 am at the Readsboro Central School on Phelps Avenue (turn at the bandstand).  Race start time is 10:30 am.  No aid stations are available so participants will want to carry some food and drink while enjoying the trail. Parking will be in the school parking lot.   Dufour will provide transportation from the school to the start and finish point and return to school.
Homemade soups, chili, and hot and cold drinks will be available at the school after completion of the race.  Awarding of the “Spike” to the winners of the race will be announced. Each year all proceeds benefit the E.J. Bullock Building Restoration Project. RHR recently received a $100,000 Preservation Trust Grant to repair and replace the roof and  an additional $30,000 is needed to complete the project.
Dion Snowshoes is once again sponsoring and supporting the event.
Minimum snowshoe size is a 120-square-inch surface. Limited snowshoe rentals will be available. Entry fee is $15 for adults; ages 65 and older and under 18 are free.
