Bike tour introduces new ride choices

The Whitingham-Halifax Lions Club will host the bike tour on September 29.

WHITINGHAM- On Saturday, September 29,  riders in the Hungry Lion Bike Tour will have the opportunity to enjoy two brand-new ride choices.  The tour is adding a five-mile loop for beginner cyclists and families as well as a challenging 25-mile “Gravel Grinder” on primarily gravel and dirt roads.
Registration is now open for all rides on the popular fall foliage tour and riders can choose from five different rides, including a 75-mile pro challenge.  All rides take cyclists through scenic country roads in southern Vermont and western Massachusetts.
The Hungry Lion features several rest stops plus a barbecue picnic with live music and a goodie bag for riders at the finish line.  There will also be “sag wagon” service to provide assistance (and lifts) to cyclists.
Sponsored by the Whitingham-Halifax Lions Club, the HLBT donates all proceeds to help end hunger, fund programs for seniors, and provide free vision screening in local schools.  All cyclists who raise more than $250 will receive a custom artist-designed cycling jersey.
Non-riders can also help the cause, either by sponsoring a rider or donating directly to the Whitingham-Halifax Lions Club. For more information visit www.hungrylionbiketour.com.
