Basketball camps for local youth coming

DEERFIELD VALLEY- The 23rd annual Deerfield Valley Basketball Camp for boys and girls entering grades five through nine will be held from 1 to 4 pm on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, at the Twin Valley Middle High School in Whitingham.
The camp director is Buddy Hayford and the staff will include high school and college players. The daily schedule includes learning skills such as ball handling, shooting, dribbling, defending, passing, screening, and rebounding, all taught in a variety of situations. All campers receive a custom designed T-shirt and basketball. In addition, campers at TVMHS will have the opportunity to use the newly acquired Dr. Dish for intensive shooting practice.
The third annual Wildcat Cub Basketball Camp will be held at the old school in Wilmington from June 24 to 28. Boys and girls entering preschool and first grade will play from 8:30 to 9:30 am; those entering grades two through four will play from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. These sessions are an introduction to the basic skills necessary to advance as a prospective player.
The camp director is Chris Brown and various high school players will serve as camp staff.
