Local wins at AAU meet, heads to the national championships

WILMINGTON- Giovanni Linnehan, 10, competed Saturday, May 3, at the Adirondack AAU Taekwondo Championship and achieved five medals, which qualified him for a National Championship.
Giovanni received a gold medal in board breaking (breaking 18 boards), a silver medal in point sparring, a silver medal in Olympic sparring, a silver medal in board breaking, and a bronze medal in forms.
In addition, he received recognition as a Grand Champion and received a sword, representing the highest recognition for his age and rank for his performance at the competition.
Giovanni represented Vermont Valley Taekwondo and Vermont. He will attend the US Open ISKA World Championships July 17,18,19, and 20 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Giovanni and his family are fundraising to cover the cost of attending, travel, and accommodations. Vermont Valley Taekwondo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
