Walter M. Harris

ALBANY, NY- On Saturday, September 14, Walter (Mac) M. Harris died peacefully at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his devoted and loving family after a brief illness.
 Mr. Harris is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara Harris, daughter, Jane M. Jones and her husband Donald D. Jones;  granddaughter Charlene Bellemare and husband Kris Bellemare; grandson David Harris and wife Amy Harris; granddaughter Elizabeth Harris; great-grandson Brad Landers; and great-granddaughters Arriana Harris Rivera and Emma Riley Harris.  Also his step-granddaughter, Tracy Kenney and husband Daniel Kenney; step-grandson Christopher Jones and his wife, Amy Jones; step-great-grandchildren Cassidy Kenney, Camille Kenney, Marco Jones, and Camden Jones. Also, in England he is survived by his brother William Harris and sister Audrey Savage and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A son, Paul Harris, preceded him in death.
 Mr. Harris was a lifelong Arsenal FC fan and never missed watching a game.  He also loved the Boston Red Sox and watched all the games along with his wife.  He was the most devoted father and husband and was known by all to be a gentle man and always dignified.  He was passionate about cars, especially his “Crown Vic” and passed his love of cars on to his son Paul. For most of his career he worked in the automotive industry in both England and the United States.
A special thank you for the care given to him in his final weeks by the staff of the cardiology team and the Cardiac Care Unit at Albany Medical Center and by the emergency room  at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, along with his general practitioner, Dr. Dagmar Tobits, of the SWVMC Deerfield Campus.
 During a private gathering on Saturday, September 28, his ashes will be spread at a gravesite in Tewksbury, MA, and then a celebration of life will be held in the afternoon.  In lieu of flowers please send donations made out to SVHCF and in the memo line include Deerfield Valley Health Center Renovations. Mail your checks to Jane May Jones, 471 Ross Road, Readsboro, VT 05350. The donations will help in the creation of a memorial garden at the local health center.
