DOVER- Roy Shopman, 84, died Monday, August 26, in Rhode Island after a period of declining health. He was born on May 17, 1935, in Hackensack, NJ. He lived much of his adult life at the Brook House in West Dover, and was well known throughout the community. He was often seen holding court on the picnic table outside 7-Eleven. Prior to retiring, he worked for many years at Mount Snow, where he was affectionately known as “Shoppie.” He was passionate about Mount Snow, Dover, and the Deerfield Valley. He loved hunting and especially fishing.
Mr .Shopman is survived by his daughter Kate Brower, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son. Per Mr. Shopman’s wishes there will be no memorial services.
