Roberta A. Gauthreaux

NEW ORLEANS, LA- Roberta A. “Burt” Gauthreaux, 69, died October 1. She was born and raised in Wardsboro, Vermont. She graduated from Leland & Gray High School in 1967 and worked in the medical field and office administration before moving to Louisiana in 1975. She resided with her husband, FJ “Phil” Gauthreaux, outside Napoleonville for the past 42 years. Mrs. Gauthreaux  was a dedicated United States Postal Service clerk and retired with 26 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Alta Cole; her sister Francis Lucier; and her twin brother Robert Cole.
She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Slade and Joan Staib;  her brother, William Cole Jr.; her husband, FJ.Gauthreaux; son Phil M Gauthreaux and wife Stephanie; daughter Samantha L. Coker and husband Shawn; stepdaughter, Lisa A. Gauthreaux; and three grandchildren, Ruby Coker, Ashley Gauthreaux, and Cole Gauthreaux.
Mrs. Gauthreaux’s life was her family and her grandchildren. She was totally devoted to her children and always encouraged and expected the best from them. She was very much a people person who always spoke her piece and let you know what was on her mind. Although she grew up in Vermont and spent the early part of her life there, she was a “true transplant” to Louisiana if ever there was one. She quickly adapted to the Cajun culture and she could cook Cajun dishes with the best in the area.
