Rebecca Nealand

DOVER- Rebecca “Becky” Nealand,  60, died suddenly at her home on March 4.  Becky was born in Rochester, NH, and spent many years living and working in the New Hampshire seacoast area.
Becky grew up spending summers near the water and winters skiing.  As a child she fell in love with Mount Snow and West Dover.  Becky chose to move to West Dover about 13 years ago and quickly became a part of the community.
Becky loved life, she always had a smile on her face and was ready to say hi to anyone she met.  Working in hospitality and real estate for many years she had a knack for talking to people.   She had a way of meeting someone just once, but it felt like they had known each other for years.
Becky is survived by her beloved cat Stanley; her brother James “Jim” Nealand, of South Berwick, ME;  sisters Peggy Simmons, of Rochester, NH, and Jean Nealand, of South Berwick, ME;  nephews Peter and Dana Simmons;  nieces Elizabeth “Beth” Simmons, Taylor Dieng, and Abby Eneguess; and numerous friends who she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Red” Nealand and Simone Cote Nealand, as well as many of her beloved pets.
A celebration of life will be held sometime this summer in West Dover and another in the seacoast area.  Information regarding these celebrations will be posted on the Facebook group “Becky Nealand Celebration of Life.”
Becky loved animals and spent some time volunteering at Gerda’s Equine Rescue in Townshend.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Becky’s name to this charity or any animal rescue organization.
