Raymond E. Cookson
DOVER- Raymond E. Cookson, 68, a resident of Waldwinkle Road, died peacefully at his home on Monday, September 7. The son of the late Raymond F. and Phyllis (Haire) Cookson, he was born in Bridgeport, CT, on March 11, 1952. He grew up in Orange, CT, where he received his education from Amity High School, Woodbridge, and the University of New Haven.
Mr. Cookson had worked as a machine operator at a printing and bindery company. Upon relocating to West Dover many years ago, he worked as a ski lift operator at Mount Snow Ski Resort. He loved the natural beauty of Vermont and will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.
In later years, he was fortunate to find solace attending the West Dover Congregational Church where he found a true and trusting friendship with Pastor Jeremy Kirk, who offered unconditional kindness, guidance, and understanding.
Mr. Cookson cared deeply for his family and will be missed by everyone. He leaves two sisters, Janet Kasowitz, of Milford, CT, and Jean Ruggiero, of Beaufort, SC; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert Cookson and William Cookson.
Mr. Cookson will be laid to rest in his hometown of Orange, CT, at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home in Wilmington.
