Maureen Van Hook

WILMINGTON- Maureen Van Hook, of Wilmington, died on Sunday, August 25. Ms. Van Hook was a long time resident of Wilmington, having moved to the area from New York City in 1989. Her original plan was to take a break from city life and spend some time in the country in the area that her parents had recently retired to. That break lasted 30 years.
As a bartender at Cuzzins at Mount Snow, Ms. Van Hook was a popular and familiar figure at the ski area for many years. Her long blonde curls and big smile were easy to notice and hard to forget. During the summer, she would move to the Mount Snow golf course as a server and bartender. She enjoyed the camaraderie with her friends on the Mount Snow Golf School team.
Ms. Van Hook attended Immaculate Heart Academy in New Jersey, where she excelled at academics and was an athlete. She went on to attend the University of Vermont.
She loved the outdoors, her dogs, her family and friends, and tennis. She had a fierce personality that was based on love and loyalty.
A celebration of  Ms. Van Hook’s life will be held at the Dover Forge in West Dover on Saturday, November 9, from 12 to 4 pm. All friends are invited to attend.
She joins her father, Charlie, who died in 2015, whom she missed dearly. She leaves behind her mother,  brothers, sisters, and her beloved pets Angie, Billy, and Kid.
In lieu of flowers friends are asked to   make a donation to a local animal shelter.
