READSBORO - Mario Augustino Bolognani, 82, died on Wednesday, November 24, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, following a brief illness.
Mario was born in Bennington on September 5, 1939, a son of Alfonso and Carmella (Cristofolini) Bolognani. He attended Readsboro schools and the former St. Joseph’s High School in North Adams, MA.
Mario was last employed by GS Precision in Brattleboro. Before that, he worked at the former Deerfield Glassine. He was also the longtime bartender at American Legion Post #29 in Readsboro.
Mario was a communicant of St. Joachim’s Church and was a 64-year member of the Readsboro Volunteer Fire Department. Mario enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and he was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan.
Mario was preceded in death by his grandson Jarred Richard Bolognani; and two brothers: Richard Bolognani, who died in the Korean War, and Mario, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Rose Roberta (Nadeau) Bolognani, whom he married on May 6, 1961; daughter Arlene Marie (Richard) Noel, of North Adams, MA; and two sons: Richard Michael (Naomi) Bolognani, of Whitingham, and Robert Anthony (Patti) Bolognani, of Wilmington.
He also leaves six grandchildren: Tarryn Schneider, Bryan Russell Noel, Alexander Richard Noel, Jordyn Rose Bolognani, Eric James Bolognani, and Jess Cronin; five great-grandchildren: Dominick Mario Noel, Landon William Noel, Adelaide Reylene Noel, Taden Jarred Schneider, and Karver Richard Schneider; and several nieces and nephews.
A liturgy of Christian burial for Mario Bolognani was celebrated Tuesday, November 30, at St. Joachim’s Church. Burial followed in the Readsboro Village Cemetery.
