Margo Lafferty

ENFIELD, CT - Margo Arlene (Neuhaus) Lafferty, 76, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Saturday, January 15. Margo was a loving wife, a caring mother, an amazing grandma, a beautiful dancer, an avid skier, and a lifelong educator.
She always put all others before herself. She took care of those around her with selfless dedication and had a fiery personality. She enjoyed being social with the company of friends and family while dancing the night away.
She was born in Niskayuna, NY, to Douglas R. Neuhaus and Marjorie (White) Neuhaus on March 18, 1945. She graduated from Niskayuna High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Courtland, and earned a master’s degree in education from Arizona State University to pursue her passion for teaching.
She married Paul A. Lafferty in 1974 and resided in Enfield, CT, for most of her adult life where she raised a family; taught first and second grade in several of Enfield’s elementary schools; was heavily involved in Cub Scouts; was an active board member of the Enfield Congregational Church, where she taught at the church nursery school; and was a member of the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club, where she enjoyed hosting social functions.
In the winter she was easily found at Mount Snow, VT, with the “Chix on Stix” ski group, cruising her favorite trails, Ridge and Snowdance, especially on post-powder days. In the summer she was found on the waters of Great Sacandaga Lake in upstate New York or on Waquoit Bay, in East Falmouth, MA, where she would relax on the beach in the sun. She always looked forward to her “family ski days” and her “family beach parties.”
Above all else she enjoyed time with her four grandchildren where they dined on ice cream for breakfast, cookies for lunch, and cake for dinner. As she reminded her grandchildren, “What happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandma’s.”
She is survived by her husband, Paul A.; her son Paul D. and his wife Lisa and their children Alexis and Avery; and her son Scott D. and his wife Cerissa and their children Stella and Tucker.
