Margaret Havreluk
READSBORO- Margaret Theresa “Peggy” Havreluk, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and caregiver, died on Wednesday, February 22, at the age of 91 at her home. She was born on July 19, 1931, at the Readsboro Hospital to Moisey and Anna (Januska) Havreluk.
Peggy attended school in Readsboro and graduated from St. Joseph High School and Bliss Business College, both in North Adams, MA. She was handicapped with polio from the age of 13. Throughout her life she was a dedicated caregiver, providing support and care for her own family and several other families, including the Joseph DeMasi family.
Peggy was also an accomplished artist and illustrator. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joachim Church in Readsboro.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Havreluk, her beloved caregiver, of Readsboro; Eugena “Jeanne” Bourdon (William), of Lee, MA; and brother Carrol Havreluk Sr. (Reita), of Brooksville, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers Edmund Havreluk and Anthony Havreluk and sisters Catherine Havreluk and Melvina Havreluk.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 3, at Saint Joachim Church. Burial will take place in the family plot in Village Cemetery in the spring.
