Kurt Forstrom

DOVER- Kurt Arthur Forstrom, 74, died on Wednesday, March 15. Kurt was born in New York , NY, the son of Arthur and Jane (Tietjens) Forstrom. He grew up in the Bronx and attended Evander Childs High School,  and then Georgia Southern College.
Kurt was a very talented craftsman and started his own building business in Atlanta. He was a sheetrock master.      
 Kurt moved to East Dover in the early 1990s to his parents’ retirement home. He helped build the home with his family in the 1960s. He worked as a lift operator at Haystack Mountain, for Mount Snow condo maintenance, and Mount Snow building maintenance, before starting his own carpentry business. He also received his CDL license and drove for the MOOver.
Kurt is survived by his son Sloan Knight Forstrom, of Burlington; his partner of 31 years, Kathleen K. Wheeler; Jeff Wheeler, of West Dover; his nephews Timothy, Eric, and Scott Pickering, of New York; and his close friend  Tom Fusco, of Marlboro. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Wynne Forstrom and Dustine (Mark) Pickering.  
The family gives a  very special thank you to Deerfield Valley Rescue and the East Dover first responders for all they’ve done for Kurt these last three years.
