Jean Leona Macfadden Lounsbury

CONCORD, NC- Jean Leona Macfadden Lounsbury, 86, formerly of Marcellus, NY, and most recently of Jensen Beach, FL, died  Thursday, May 6, with family at her side at Brookdale Concord Parkway.
She was born September 27, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Joseph Leon Macfadden Sr. and the late Ethel Rita Kovacs Macfadden.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Leon Macfadden Jr.
Mrs.Lounsbury met the love of her life, Joseph Lounsbury, while working at New York Telephone Company in Syracuse, NY.  She became a full-time homemaker and mother when they started a family.  Later in life, she served the community as a clerk at Marcellus Pharmacy.  She cherished time with family, whether it was Sunday dinners, time spent at the lake and beach, or travels with various Tigris Shrine events.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier, of Marcellus, NY, and St. Martin de Porres ,of Jensen Beach, FL.  She was active with Marcellus Chorale, Ladies Home Bureau, Daughters of the Nile, and developed a passion for shuffleboard - rising to the level of professional.  She will be lovingly remembered for handknit sweaters and Christmas stockings, countless needle works, and painted crafts.  Known affectionately as “G-Ma” by her six grandchildren, she was quick to join in on puzzles and games.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Joseph Lounsbury of Concord; son Stephen (Cathy) Lounsbury of Lincolnton; daughter Therese (Mary) Lounsbury, of Wilmington, VT; daughter Judith (Scott) Moore of Davidson; grandchildren Ryan (Melanie) Moore, Amanda (Brett) Costner, Colleen Lounsbury, Patrick Lounsbury, James Wakulsky, and Olivia Genella. 
She was hoping to greet her first great-grandchild in October. Mrs. Lounsbury is also survived by her sister Joan Butler, of Holly Ridge; brother Robert Macfadden, of Delray Beach, FL; sister-in-law Sue Macfadden, of Jensen Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of her life will be held at Topsail Beach, NC.
