Janice E. Batchelder

WILMINGTON - Janice E. Batchelder (Boyd), a lifetime resident of Vermont, died on July 26, 2021, at the age of 84 with her surviving children at her side. She was born April 19, 1937, the daughter of Claudine Woods and Herman Batchelder.
She had many hobbies including knitting double-stranded mittens and hats for her family, which kept many hearts, hands, and heads warm in the cold winters. She was famous for her crocheted dishcloths, towels, afghans, and doilies. She enjoyed acrylic painting and attended many decorative art classes and luncheons. During hunting season, holidays or family get-togethers her doughnuts, pink cloud-filled cookies, cheese biscuits, and potato salad were always anticipated and enjoyed by all. Janice loved her weekly outing of bowling with friends.
She is survived by four of her children: Theresa Clare, Carol Boyd, Tammy Snow, and Dannie “Buck” Boyd; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her sister-in-law Violet Rafus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Edwin (Roberta) Rafus, Ray Rafus, and Claire Boubar; her twin boys Cleon Boyd and Leon Boyd; and her former husband Ernest “John” Boyd.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Boyd Family Farm on Friday, July 8, under the pavilion starting at 6 pm. A short sunset service will follow at 7 pm at the top of the field in the family cemetery. Bring a memory to share and a musical instrument to play along with the family in her honor. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Deerfield Valley Rescue or Wilmington Fire Department.
