Dorothy Whitney

MARLBORO- Dorothy Moncrief Whitney, 84, of Higley Hill Road, died Tuesday, July 10, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Mrs. Whitney was born in Jersey City, NJ, on January 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Rosario Acito and Florence Cook. She attended local schools, and after receiving her master’s degree, she taught school in Bayonne, NJ, for over 30 years. Mrs. Whitney enjoyed knitting, teaching, traveling, especially to Italy and Spain, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Whitney is survived by her children Aaron Moncrief, of Georgia, Jason Moncrief and his wife Elizabeth, of Bayonne, NJ, and Paul Moncrief and his wife Patricia, of Keyport, NJ; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Aaron Moncrief in August 1996, and her second husband Harold “Sonny” Whitney on March 5, 2017.
A time of visitation for Mrs. Whitney will be held Saturday, July 21, from 2 to 4 pm, at Covey, Allen & Shea Funeral Home, 44 East Main Street, Wilmington.
