Carolyn P. DiLeo


RANDOLPH CENTER- Carolyn P. DiLeo, 77, died late Thursday evening, August 17.
Carolyn grew up in Oradell, NJ, and attended schools in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Oradell. A graduate of River Dell Senior High School in Oradell, she then received her teaching degree from Trenton State College.
Carolyn married Robert DiLeo in Oradell on August 21, 1971. She taught elementary and middle school in Ridgewood, NJ, from the late 1960s until 1999.
Carolyn and her husband then moved to Wilmington  to pursue their love for skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and kayaking, especially under the full moon, and yoga.
While in Wilmington she taught at Mount Snow Academy. She was also a volunteer with Deerfield Valley Community Cares, a fuel assistance program for the local community and the Vermont Community Drivers Program, a program of the MOOver, helping others to get to medical appointments.
Then in 2016 they moved to Rochester and finally to Randolph Center to be closer to family. She especially loved going to her grandkids’ sporting events.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter Alicia DiLeo Hanford and her husband Josh, along with their children Benjamin and Adeline, all of Randolph Center; daughter Amanda DiLeo Guilbert and her husband Jason, along with their children Gunnar and Max Guilbert, of Campton, NH; brother George Gerdts, of Hanville, WA; and sisters Tamara Schwartz, of Pearland, TX, and Nadine Gerdts, of Brookline, MA.
A celebration of life is being planned by her family for the spring.
