Voters to decide fate of unified school district

HALIFAX- Southern Valley may become the first union school district formed under Act 46 to be dissolved, if voters approve questions petitioned in the district’s two member towns.
On November 19, the Halifax Selectboard received a petition signed by 41 Halifax voters, more than the 5% of the town’s registered voters required.   The petition question asks “Shall the town of Halifax vote to withdraw from the Southern Valley Unified Union School District at a special Town Meeting.”
