Tax credits may be available to downtown businesses, but apply soon

WILMINGTON - Caitlin Corkins, tax credit and grants coordinator for the state, was in Wilmington on Tuesday to talk with prospective business owners about tax credits that may be available to them. Corkins detailed state and federal grant programs that are available to owners of buildings in need of rehabilitation.
Corkins began by discussing federal tax credits, which can amount to 20% of an overall project cost. Eligible rehabilitation expenses that the credits can be used toward include interior and  exterior work as well as utilities.
