Tax billing error could cost town

Dover plans to repave Handle Road from its intersection with Tannery Road to the Dover-Wilmington town line this summer.

DOVER-  Selectboard members discussed what may be a costly error in tax billing, approved a bid for this season’s road paving, and granted a funding request for a proposed historical driving tour.
Town assessor Linda Sherman and treasurer Marco Tallini told board members that an error in the town’s Grand List could cost the town as much as $40,000 in tax revenue.  Sherman said she would work to rectify the error, however, so that Tallini could attempt to recoup as much of the revenue as possible.
