Superintendent says special ed numbers not adding up

WILMINGTON- Superintendent Bill Bazyk told board members he was able to shave more than $743,000 off the draft 2026 supervisory union budget at a special Windham Southwest Supervisory Union Board meeting Tuesday evening.
The bad news? That still leaves an increase of more than $932,000 in the draft 2026 budget.  Although some of the overall increase is due to incremental increases in salaries, benefits, and other costs, much of the increase stems from the cost of special education programs that were, apparently, mistakenly left out of the current fiscal year 2025 budget.
