State says UI claimants must now look for work

Vermont Department of Labor Commissioner Michael Harrington

MONTPELIER- Vermont Labor Commissioner Michael Harrington announced the reinstatement of the work search requirement for unemployment claims at the administration’s COVID-19 emergency press conference on Tuesday.
The unemployment work search requirement was suspended about a year ago under the COVID-19 state of emergency.  Beginning the week of May 9, claimants under regular unemployment insurance and some claimants under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program will be required to make at least three job contacts per week to continue claiming the assistance.
