State to ramp up testing, tracing

Vermont Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine

MONTPELIER- The state will turn its focus to COVID-19 testing and contact tracing as it contemplates bringing more of the economy back on line. Gov. Phil Scott said Wednesday at a press conference the state would ramp up its testing capacity to 1,000 COVID-19 tests per day, and 7,000 per week.
Additionally, the department of health will nearly double the number of staff dedicated to contact tracing, which is identifying people who have been in contactwith a COVID-19-positive patient and advising them of the contact, quarantine requirements, testing, and other resources.
