School officials to present breakup case to state

HALIFAX- The Vermont Agency of Education and state board of education have acted swiftly on Halifax’s move to withdraw from Southern Valley Unified Union School District.
On Friday, September 3, Vermont State Board of Education Chair John Carroll contacted SVUUSD Chair Chum Sumner and vice chair Helen Strom-Henriksen by email, seeking information on Halifax’s students, school, and future plans.  Carroll also asked Sumner and Strom-Henriksen to attend the state board of education’s virtual meeting on September 16 to discuss Halifax’s withdrawal from the union district.
