Readsboro voters agree to break up district

READSBORO- Voters in Readsboro overwhelmingly ratified Halifax’s withdrawal from the Southern Valley Unified Union School District, sending what will essentially be the dissolution of the union district to the state board of education for approval.
Readsboro’s vote by Australian ballot Tuesday ratifies a rare, unanimous, 48-0 floor vote by Halifax voters at a petitioned special Town Meeting in December 2019.  If the Vermont Agency of Education approves the withdrawal, Southern Valley Unified Union School District will be the first Act 46 merger to be dissolved.
