Officials say federal funds will accelerate CUD broadband buildout

MONTPELIER - On June 2, H.360,  “An act relating to accelerated community broadband deployment,” was delivered to Gov. Phil Scott for his signature. The bill, which the governor is expected to sign, will designate $150 million in federal funds next year for building out broadband infrastructure. That money will be given to communications union districts, or CUDs — municipalities created for the purpose of expanding access to high-speed broadband.
