WILMINGTON - Green Mountain Beach has been closed twice since June due to high E. coli levels in the water. According to Wilmington wastewater treatment plant chief operator John Lazelle, no specific reason for higher-than-average levels has been identified, but weather and septic systems could be contributing factors.
The water at Green Mountain Beach is tested every Tuesday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The tests are administered by Wilmington wastewater operators and are sent to Endyne Labs in Lebanon, NH for testing.
