Locals rally for Black Lives Matter, police chief against racism

WILMINGTON - On Sunday, protesters gathered in the center of town for what organizers called a “peaceful protest and to stand in solidarity as allies for Black Lives Matter.” About 40 people attended the protest.
Karen Mangold and April Horton organized the protest. Mangold says she was surprised by the turnout, and that she was inspired to get involved because fighting systemic racism is something she is very passionate about. Mangold says it was also very important to her that the protest be peaceful. Mangold’s son, who lives in New Jersey, is a police officer.
