Judge signs off on final recount numbers, Busa loses seat by 20 votes

BENNINGTON- The results of a recount of votes in the Bennington-1 district race confirmed Democrat Nelson Brownell’s victory over Republican Bruce Busa.
The results were read aloud by Bennington Superior Court Judge John Valente Thursday afternoon in the same courtroom in which ballots from the five towns in the district were counted on Monday. Brownell, of Pownal, was named the winner with 972 votes, a 20-vote margin over Busa, of Readsboro, who received 952 votes.
