Hermitage-related bankruptcy is filed

HARTFORD, CT- Donna Barnes, wife of Hermitage Club founder James Barnes, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Hartford District Court, apparently as a result of Hermitage-related debt.
Barnes initially filed a petition for bankruptcy on March 14.  According to documents filed with the court last week, Barnes claims assets of $6.8 million – including her half ownership of the family’s properties – and liabilities of more than $16 million, including almost $8.5 million stemming from judgments against the Hermitage and James Barnes.
