MONTPELIER- Gov. Phil Scott signed S.287, the student weighting bill based on recommendations made in the 2019 Pupil Weighting Factors Report, on Monday. 
The bill significantly increases state funding for schools with high numbers of students  from an economically-deprived background, students living in rural areas, English language learners, and small schools by adjusting the student weighting used to calculate equalized pupils.   The new weights, and the increased funding that goes with them, won’t be implemented until fiscal year 2025, however.
