Flood aid from Wilmington to Wilmington

Wilmington was badly damaged by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. The measurements of the flood are marked on the Wilmington Police Department's building.

WILMINGTON - A GoFundMe campaign has been launched with the goal of raising flood relief funds for Wilmington, NC. The campaign was the idea of Shelley Lockyear, manager of The Nutmeg. Lockyear says that this weekend, The Nutmeg will donate $1 from every meal purchased from The Nutmeg’s food truck to the campaign, and is challenging all Wilmington businesses to find a way to donate as well.
The idea for the campaign came last month during Hurricane Florence, when Lockyear realized that as of the storm, the two Wilmingtons were to have more in common than their name.
