Final results of House race pending after recount
UPDATE: Bennington Superior Court Judge John Valente announced the recount results in a hearing at 3 pm Thursday. The final numbers indicate that Democrat Nelson Brownell, of Pownal, won the Bennington-1 race with 972 votes, a 20-vote margin over the 952 votes received by Republican Bruce Busa, of Readsboro.
The town-by-town totals were:
Pownal: Nelson Brownell, 533; Bruce Busa, 465.
Readsboro: Nelson Brownell, 164; Bruce Busa, 154.
Searsburg: Nelson Brownell, 15; Bruce Busa, 30.
