JACKSONVILLE- Candidates for town offices introduced themselves to voters at a meet-the-candidates event at the Whitingham Municipal Center Wednesday evening.
Almira Aekus, the incumbent and only candidate for town treasurer and collector of delinquent taxes, dropped a bomb with her announcement that she would be leaving the two positions, as well as her position as Whitingham Town Clerk, at the end of the upcoming year.  “It’s been a great run,” she said.  “I started in 1993 as assistant town clerk, but it’s time to pass the baton.”
