Board, trails group at odds over parking lot, trail plans

DOVER- Tensions between the selectboard and the Southern Vermont Trails Association boiled over Tuesday evening, over plans for a parking area to access the proposed ridge trail system on town and National Forest Service land. 
For the past two decades, Dover has sought to provide access to Green Mountain National Forest land through a tract of land owned by the town on Handle Road.  According to town clerk Andy McLean, the town’s access point would be the only location in Dover where the public could access their federal lands.
