Board considers new compactor, signs policing contract with Wilmington

WHITINGHAM - The selectboard met with Joseph Maguire, of Casella Waste Systems, at their regular meeting on Wednesday, July 12, to discuss a new three-year contract.
After a long discussion, however, the board asked Maguire to return with detailed cost breakdowns for a variety of scenarios.  Which option will save the town the most money was at the heart of the discussion:  Rent a compactor for recycling, and if so, should it compact only paper or mixed recycling?  Or rent larger, taller recycling containers for the transfer station?
