HARTFORD, CT- A Connecticut Superior Court judge has denied a motion by Lakeland Bank for default judgment against James Barnes for more than $469,000 in damages.
In her denial, Judge Ann Lynch noted that Lakeland attorneys signed an affidavit certifying that Barnes is not currently on active duty in any branch of the US military.  The military affidavit informs the court as to whether a defendant has certain protections in legal proceedings under the federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
