Administration defends emergency housing changes

Agency of Human Services Secretary Mike Smith

MONTPELIER- Gov. Phil Scott and members of his administration reported on the latest pandemic developments at their weekly COVID-19 press conference Tuesday, and responded to questions about a class action lawsuit filed by Vermont Legal Aid.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Vermonters currently staying in hotel and motel rooms under the state’s emergency housing program.  The eligibility criteria were significantly loosened under Gov. Scott’s COVID-19 emergency order, essentially providing emergency housing to every homeless Vermonter who applied to the program.
