Dover chief settling in to new job

Dover Police Chief Mike Arbogast was sworn in as chief in late 2023. Lauren Harkawik

DOVER - Mid-morning on a recent Monday, Dover Police Chief Mike Arbogast sat behind the desk in his new office. In December, Arbogast was sworn in as chief, replacing former chief Randy Johnson, who retired at the end of 2023.
Arbogast joined the Dover Police Department in 2008. He was hired by then chief Bobby Edwards. Entering law enforcement had been something that Arbogast had thought about before that moment, but he says it wasn’t as though being a police officer was a childhood dream for him.
