Winter started early this year with some very cold temperatures even in October.   Many people who struggle to pay their fuel bills started spending that money sooner than expected, and found that by mid-winter, they were already behind.  More of our neighbors had to rely on wood to supplement their heating systems, resulting in a higher than normal call for firewood.   So the early months of the winter produced more calls for help than normal.
