Pizza and a math lesson

On Friday, January 17, the Dover sixth grade took a mathematical field trip to Pizzapalooza in Marlboro. We have been studying ratios, rate, and proportion. Our studies included calculating tax, discounts, and tips. Sara Jasinski, owner of the restaurant, invited the sixth-grade class for lunch and a math lesson that involved using our studies.
Our teacher, Ms.Neuman, and Sara Jasinski created a math lesson that involved cost of the pizza, food tax, discount, and tip for wait staff. We also did calculation as if we bought Pizzapalooza merchandise.
