Objects to concert noise created by the Minus Zero Festival

To the Editor,
I would like to go on record as objecting to the excessive noise created for three days by the Minus Zero concert recently held at Mount Snow. While the current taste in music is louder is better, I can see no reason that it should be heard a mile or more away from the stage. Outdoor concerts are held in many venues, but not usually for days on end.
In the past, there have been discussions at DRB meetings about snowmobile noise, airport noise and decibel levels of various machinery. I respectfully submit that there should be a policy regarding public concerts of more than a few hours in duration.
The Minus Zero noise shook windows, impaired the quality of life, and generally created a nuisance all the way to East Dover and Wilmington. I urge that the Dover Selectboard and other town agencies re-examine the parameters for issuing permits for such events in Dover in the future.
