To the Editor,
It has been two years since the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry has accepted nonperishable food donations. This decision was not an easy one to make; while the donations were appreciated, many of the food items we received were outdated, partially used, and/or unusable.  Because each unusable can of food needed to be emptied, cleaned, and recycled, and the unusable food composted, it soon became evident we could no longer accept donations carte blanche, thus, the moratorium on nonperishable food donations.
