Health care bureaucracy endangering epileptic writer

To the Editor,
I have severe epilepsy. A week before Christmas, I realized that my Tegretol prescription would run out in two weeks and called my doctor to request a refill. I didn’t hear back.
I called the pharmacy. They said that they’d faxed the doctor’s office before Christmas and hadn’t heard back. I called my doctor again to ask why the pharmacy didn’t have the prescription. I got no answer.
