Column was derogatory

To the Editor,
Do we cover up the reality of dying by using the word “passing ” as was recently suggested in the column Aging In Place? Sure, sometimes we do. Stop for a moment and consider why. Could it possibly be that when a loved one dies it is so difficult, painful and heartbreaking that the word “dead” or “dying” is too much to bear? Or reflect on the concept of afterlife, whatever that looks like to you. Call it whatever you like, but when a person dies, a transition or yes, a passing, is what many people believe takes place.
