To the Editor,
Shall I say it? It’s not polite. It may be “divisive.”
I’m not supposed to say it. We’re not supposed to say it. No one is supposed to say it—not here, not in a friendly, small-town paper. Indeed, no mention was made of it in last week’s editorial about the Capitol Building riot, even though it was a major factor in those sickening events. No, it wasn’t the only factor in the riots—just the one least likely to be mentioned in small-town America.
I think I should say it.
